Sharon brings more than 25 years of real estate expertise to her role as Chief Operating Officer. She oversees GBX’s daily real estate operations, executes business strategies, and ensures operational efficiency to advance the company’s objectives. Sharon collaborates with teams across the firm to implement policies that streamline processes and mitigate risk.
Sharon joined GBX in 2015 as the Director of Project Management, where she established the firm’s project management capabilities. In 2022, she was promoted to Vice President of Process Improvement & Internal Audit, assuming responsibility for evaluating and enhancing business performance across the organization and overseeing the firm's property and corporate insurance program.
Prior to joining GBX, Sharon held positions in both for-profit and non-profit development companies, where she oversaw the acquisition, design, financing, construction, and lease-up of real estate projects. She managed the development of over $145 million in multifamily projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas. Earlier in her career, Sharon served as an Acquisitions Officer at Fairfield Residential, where she was responsible for securing tax-exempt bond allocations on the East Coast to finance multifamily acquisitions and support the company's expansion efforts.
Sharon is a trained urban planner and has her LEED AP. She is an active member of the Urban Land Institute’s Cleveland Chapter and is the former Co-Chair of its Program Committee.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Miami University, a Master of Regional Planning degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and a Master of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University.
