Vice President of Real Estate Asset Management
Brian Cappelli has over 25 years of experience managing and leasing diverse real estate portfolios nationwide. As Vice President of Real Estate Asset Management at GBX Group, Brian is responsible for directing the financial and operational performance of the firm’s assets, which consist primarily of historic buildings located in the eastern United States.
Brian previously served as Vice President of Operations at Forest City Realty Trust in Cleveland where he managed a national portfolio of assets of more than 6 million square feet and net operating income in excess of $110 million. As General Manager at Equity Office Properties Trust, based in Chicago and one of the nation’s largest real estate investment trusts at the time with a total capitalization of $27 billion, Brian was responsible for leasing and managing a 1.3 million square foot office tower in Cleveland’s Central Business District.
Brian is Chair-elect of the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) International whose mission is to advance a vibrant commercial real estate industry through advocacy, influence and knowledge. He is a recipient of the prestigious BOMA Fellow recognition, a current member of BOMA’s Finance and Executive Committee, and a past President and current Board Director of BOMA Greater Cleveland.
Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public affairs from Indiana University, and the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI).
