Built in 1910, the property and adjacent parcels are located in the once-vibrant African-American commercial and entertainment district on South Rampart Street in New Orleans. The Karnofsky Tailor Shop/Residence was a historic double building that once housed two shops at ground level, each with residential space above. Though the Karnofsky building fell during Hurricane Ida in 2021, the original bricks from the structure were retained.
