Historic Information
The two-story masonry building was constructed sometime after 1872 and before 1879. It served as a department store for most of its existence. In 1925, the J.C. Penney Company moved into the building and became its sixth store in the state and 677th in the nation. From 1958 until 1987, the space was operated by Maxwell’s Furniture and was later occupied as office space.
