Waikiki Village Motel
Myrtle Beach, SC
The Waikiki Village Motel is a wonderful example of a mid-century modern motel known for the Hawaiian-style hut that serves as its focal point. The motel was built in 1963 during Myrtle Beach’s “Golden Era” — the period when Myrtle Beach became a full-fledged tourist destination. The 43-room motel and courtyard remain largely unchanged from its original appearance, maintaining its vintage Hawaiian charm. Period design highlights include blue and green fabric awnings, Eames chairs, colored concrete, and full-length sliding glass doors.
