Summary

The Business Development Associate is responsible for both assisting in and directly identifying, developing, organizing and managing current and new investor relationships primarily for the GBX Historic Investment fund but also for other strategies that align with long-term business growth strategies. This includes fostering relationships with CPA firms, law firms, investment advisors, family offices and high-income individuals. The ideal candidate will have a background in finance, real estate, investment fundraising, individual tax, tax credits, investment banking, and/or commercial banking. The Business Development Associate must have excellent communication, marketing, and persuasion skills, and possess strong business judgement. This role will work closely with other members of Business Development, Investor Relations and Marketing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites

Both assist and directly develop and maintain new and key investor relationships and implement company strategies for expanding the company’s investor base. Key relationships include CPA firms, law firms, investment advisors, family offices and high-income individuals.

  • Expand the company’s presence in existing markets and both assist others in Business Development and ultimately own the expansion to new markets.
  • Identify qualified leads and manage a pipeline of leads to closure – leveraging appropriate resources to support effort.
  • Maintain timely updates and accurate customer records in the company’s CRM platform.
  • Use current and new contacts to connect with potential advisors and investors in an effort to expand existing investor base.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events and ultimately make individual and group presentations.
  • Be willing to travel at least 30-40% of the time (between 5 – 10 days per month).
  • May be required to work outside of typical work hours including Pacific Time and on Saturdays and evenings.
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, tax or marketing preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, real estate, accounting, investment banking, tax or law.
  • Preference given to those who are Licensed Wealth Manager, CPA, CFA and/or possess an advanced degree in finance, real estate accounting or tax law.

Computer Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with using a CRM platform and LinkedIn is preferred.
  • Ability to learn new proprietary software.
